Let me start with a note of reassurance. If you're looking for advice or information on how best to support your child with their upcoming SATs, good news, you're in safe hands. As a former deputy head teacher with over a decade of experience teaching Y6 pupils and preparing them for their statutory assessments, I've lived and breathed these tests for so long that I feel I know them inside out.

Now that I've left the classroom for new adventures in teaching, I feel really motivated to be able to facilitate other families-Dad's, Gran's, Grandads, Aunties, Uncles and Mums (like me) in developing the tools to be able to best support their child with the SATs should they want that help. For me, one of the absolute best parts of teaching is really getting to know the pupils: their interests, their motivations and their learning styles.

"Every child is unique, therefore their education should also be." Jeannie Fulbright

Your child is brilliantly unique. Their strengths may lie in academics, arts, sport, engineering, computing...the list goes on. This website and the resources within it, aim to celebrate the diversity of talents that our children bring to the world.

My resounding message is that SATs and SAT results may not define our children and their future but there are tools and methods that can help you support your child through the assessment process. I've worked with so many students over the years, all with different talents and abilities. I've been there and got the t-shirt! In this time, I've found a number of strategies which get results. I'm happy to share these strategies with you and with them, I promise three things:

1) These tools won't compromise the time your child needs to be them-the gymnast, the footballer, the gamer or whoever they may be.

2) These tools won't break the bank.

3) These tools can and will slot nicely into even the busiest of lifestyles.

I think as parents and caregivers we can sometimes be quite hard on ourselves. If you're reading this, it's clear that you've found yourself here because you want ideas on how to best support your child. Go a little easier on yourself. You care and this makes you an absolute legend in my eyes.

I'm here to try and make your life a little simpler.

It's all a learning curve.

It's our learning curve.
