A nice lyrical link to my blogs

We'll start with 'Shiny' from Disney's Moana Soundtrack...

“Are you just trying to get me to talk about myself? Because if you are… I will gladly do so... in song form!”

I have thought for a while about writing a blog and talked myself in and out of it for quite some time now. Some of the doubts, I think, come from a lack of self-confidence and the doubt that comes with making your thoughts and feelings public, “Who would want to hear what I have to say?” etc. The reason I’ve picked it up now and decided to do it is threefold:

1) I’m in the middle of a massive change in direction career wise and am both excited and terrified in equal measure. I’m hoping the blog will help me tackle some of those feelings-rather than bottling everything up and letting thoughts rattle around in my brain as I normally do.

2) Linked to point 1, the ‘mass exodus’ of teachers from the classroom has been widely reported in the press of late and I thought, being that I now fit into that category, I could shed some light on my personal reasons for leaving the profession and chart the ups and downs of exploring new career paths. Perhaps this might help someone who has stumbled upon this blog?

3) I love to write. I really, really enjoy it and I haven’t had the chance to write for pleasure for such a long time. The reason I’ve chosen this particular song as the title of my first blog is because it introduces quite aptly my knack for remembering song lyrics. O.k, so if we are going to be completely accurate, this is from the script before the song begins but I’m sure you’ll let me off on a technicality. I CAN’T remember my own mobile number or pin for my bank card when needed, but I CAN remember every word of ‘One Week’ from The Barenaked Ladies and most songs circa 1994 to 2005-which I can only presume is a period of time where I can’t have had a great deal going on really.

I’m going to try and give each blog a nice lyrical link. That way, even if you aren’t interested in reading the blog itself, you might discover (or rediscover) some songs that you can add to your playlist.

See you next time, Jaymie x
